BASELWORLD2005 closed after eight successful days on April 7. The 2,197 exhibiting companies coming from 45 countries received about 89,700 visitors,+ 0.4% compares to last year, from 100 nations. A record number of 2,352 journalists from hundreds of lifestyle magazines, daily newspapers and online-media from over the world as well as numerous television stations.

With a once more increased quality of its product presentations, BASELWORLD clearly confirmed its leading position as world wide event for the luxury goods industry.

The newly fashioned Hall of Elements (Hall3), in which all important gem and pearl traders were present. Basel became the centre of the world wide diamonds gemstones and pearls trade.

The internal exhibition arbitral BASELWORLD Panel always achieves a valid contribution to the protection of intellectual property during the World Watch and Jewellery Show. This year, the Panel established violations of rights in a range of patterns, models, trademarks and patents in 16 cases. Thus the number of treated cases and decisions remained at the constant low level compared with ealier years.

The World Watch and Jewellery Show BASELWORLD2006 will be held in the Hall of Basel Exhibition from March 30 to April 6, 2006.
