Information on Swiss exhibitors at BASELWORLD2006 is available at the official site of Swiss Press Center, www.swisstime.ch. There, already forty or so innovations are available to see. As far as the ladies' watches are concerned, the clear trend would seem to be towards gem-set cases and dials, plus subtly and delicately-deployed mother-of-pearl use. In terms of materials, pink gold, white gold and platinum still feature prominently in haute horlogerie, while steel is once again testifying the wide range of possibilities that it offers, readily accommodating all the different demands of a range of styles: sporting, urban, elegant...New materials, including ceramics, titanium and Kevlar, are found more frequently, opening up delightful new perspectives. And rubber has also gained prominence for the bracelets. In 2006, those with a love of exclusive watchmaking should discover numerous original models with big complications. Circular shapes would appear to be the favorite of the watchmakers this time around. As far as colours go, white and black are attracting gazes, adorning dials, bracelets and cases. Red is featured in a striking fashion - appearing without restraint on the ladies' models. Added to the colours come the sapphire backs that are much in abundance this year. And watches giving a partial glimpse of the movement are also very much the trend.
