Nagata Corporation
(Aoyama/Tokyo) has singed the agency contracts with 3 Swiss watches and
started distribution in Japan. They are "DE
BETHUNE", "QUINTING"
and "LEONARD".
Nagata Corporation has set up "De Bethune Japan Office", "Quinting
Japan Office", and "Leonard Montre Japan Office" for each
brand respectively within its head office, and distribute to watch retailers
and department stores.
DE BETHUNE
| DE
BETHUNE is a new brand started in 2002. Watches are created with
Swiss traditional technique combined with new technology to realize
the best watches of now with creativity and originality. The brand
name is taken from the name of a French watchmaker in the 18 century,
"Chevalier Du Bethune", renowned for having developped escapement.
DE BETHUNE is going to equip all its models with original movements
in the near future. |

The collection is composed of 4 categories - Classic, Small Complication,
Chronograph, and Complication. The Complication category contains
"Marine Chronometer with 10 Days Power Reserve", "Tourbillon",
"Two-hand Minute Repeater", "Split Second Chronograph
with Big Day Date Perpetual Calendar", "Minute Repeater
with Equation of Time Display", Perpetual Calendar with Moon
Phase and Minute Repeater", "Mono-Push Minute Repeater",
and so on. All the DE BETHUNE models has ogival formed lugs and
octagon crown. Dials are guilloche decorated by hand, and movements
are decorated with Cote de Geneve.
At the Basel this year, DE BETHUNE released a renovative model,
"Perpetual Calendar with Revolving Moon Phase" (photo
left). The moon phase is displayed by a sphere moon, diameter of
4.5mm, made of platinum and blue steel. The mechanism is entirely
manufactured in De Bethune's Atelier.
Retail of DE BETHUNE watches is tarted at Hirano in Nagoya.

QUINTING
| It is a completely transparent watch. It is not identical
enough by photo below, but the back ground is seen through except
the three hands and the logo "Quinting" on dial. |

QUINTING
was set up by Mr. Rene=Quinting in 1993. It took six years until
he announced the first proto type. In 2001, the first chronograph
model was on market, followed by 3-hand model in 2003.
The see-through movement of QUINTING is all located around the
outside, beneath the bezel. Layers of transparent wheels, each with
a toothed outer rim, specially metallized and treated with an anti-reflection
coating realizes the completely transparent movement.
QUINTING has already started development of a "completely
transparent mechanical movement". They plan to release it in
2006.

LEONARD
is the brand of knitwear, perfume, ceramic ware and men's collection,
started by Jacques Leonard and David Tribouillard in 1958. In 2000,
Leonard Montre SA was set up in Switzerland and watch collection
was started.
The watch on the photo is a model from Screen collecton - automatic,
steel case, white dial and white rubber band.
Case has three sizes - 40mm, 35mm or 28mm. Movement is automatic
or quartz.
