On June 10, which is “Memorial day of Time” in Japan, Roukokusai (Water Clock Ceremony) was held at Oumi Shrine. Oumi Shrine is dedicated to Emperor Tenji who ordered to build the first water clock on June 10, 671.
Mr. Susumi Kotani, president of Eiko Watch, Mr. Yasufumi Hirai and Mr. Shinichi Iwasaki, both are managers of Eiko Watch, served with Miss Yasuyo Mimasu and Miss. Rieko Tamagawa, both are Lake Biwako ambassadors and Miss. Ayaka Takemoto and Miss Sanae Iizuka, both are students of Oumi Watch, Glasses & Jewelry School.
Seiko Watch Co., Ltd. and Rhythm Watch Co., Ltd. presented clocks. Citizen Watch Co., Ltd., Ricoh Elemex Corp. and Orient Watch Co., Ltd. presented wristwatches. EIKO WATCH presented wristwatches of Charriol, Movado and Saint Honore.
Winners of the 23rd Watch skill competition were recognized after the ceremony. Mr. Masamichi Nakano (graduated from Oumi Watch, Glasses & Jewelry School and works at Citizen Watch Co., Ltd.) is the winter of the first division. Miss. Naomi Shibuya (works at Citizen Tohoku Co., Ltd.) is the winner of second division. (Picture left).
Mr. Kazuo Okada, vice president of NPO group “TOKEI BUNKA”, presented art pieces which are related to clocks. This year, Mr. Okada exhibited “One Clam Shell pair with picture of Japanese clock”. Right now, this is confirmed as the only clam shell pair which with picture of Japanese clock and this is very precious art piece.
