Last year, the Controle officiel suisse des chronometres (COSC) issued 1,212,166 certificates, or 4.7% fewer than in 2002. The number of timepieces submitted fell by 3.9% to 1,270,266 (1,235,939 in the mechanical category, -3.3% : 34,327 in the quartz category, -21.4%.
