On June 2, 2026, Zenith unveiled the "G.F.J." collection, a modern reinterpretation of the brand's legendary Caliber 135. The company also announced its first-ever co-branded timepiece created in collaboration with independent watchmaker NAOYA HIDA & Co.
At the press conference unveiling the ZENITH × NAOYA HIDA & Co. G.F.J. Calibre 135, speakers included Romain Marietta, Chief Product Officer of ZENITH; Naoya Hida, President and CEO of NH WATCH Co., Ltd.; watchmaker Kosuke Fujita; and engraver Keisuke Kano. They discussed the distinctive features of the new timepiece as well as the story behind its development.
Zenith’s “Double Signed” project is an initiative that reinterprets the brand’s most iconic models through collaborations with carefully selected independent watchmakers. More than a simple reissue, it seeks to preserve the essence of the originals while introducing fresh perspectives, breathing new life into these timepieces and ensuring that Zenith’s legacy is passed on to future generations.
The first partner selected for this initiative was NAOYA HIDA & Co., a watchmaker founded in 2018 by Naoya Hida. Hida has long held a deep appreciation for and understanding of Zenith’s legendary Caliber 135 movement. The project was set in motion following a meeting between Hida and Zenith’s Chief Product Officer, Romain Marietta. Their shared vision, along with a mutual passion for beautiful design and exceptional craftsmanship, ultimately led to the realization of this collaboration.
Housed in a 39 mm platinum case, this timepiece combines the spirit of the “G.F.J.” with that of NAOYA HIDA & Co.’s “NH Type 1” and “NH Type 2.” The solid silver dial features all inscriptions, including the double signature of NAOYA HIDA & Co., engraved using a precision micro-machining process. In particular, the three Arabic numeral indexes are individually hand-finished by master engraver Keisuke Kano. The engraved elements are then filled with traditional Japanese urushi lacquer, resulting in a refined and subdued blue tone.
In addition, the slender hour and minute hands, which feature gently flowing curves, are individually polished by hand by a team led by master watchmaker Kosuke Fujita after undergoing precision machining.
The manually wound Caliber 135 operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz). Thanks to a modern redesign, its power reserve has been extended to 72 hours, and a hacking-seconds mechanism has been newly incorporated. Furthermore, it is regulated to an accuracy of within ±2 seconds per day and has obtained COSC chronometer certification.
This timepiece comes with three distinctive straps: a rare Hime Kurozan leather strap, a domestically produced cowhide leather strap crafted in Kyoto, and a unique strap made from Japanese Kaihara denim.The “G.F.J. Double Signed with Naoya Hida & Co.”, produced in a limited edition of just 10 pieces worldwide, was fully allocated immediately upon its announcement, with all owners confirmed at the time of release.
