Swiss independent high-end watch brand Romain Gauthier has opened a salon within the Nishindo Ginza Main Store in Ginza 7-chome, located on Chuo-dori, offering visitors a taste of the atmosphere and spirit of Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux.
As the second salon of its kind in the world, this venue occupies the second and third floors of the building. Designed as a private retreat that feels like a “home away from home,” it offers a relaxing and welcoming space where warm hospitality is the highest priority.
It also recreates the same intimate and personal atmosphere as the room where Romain stays in the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland.
Every element of the interior—from the furnishings and artworks on display to the music playlist playing throughout the space—has been personally selected by Romain Gauthier himself.
The salon space that embodies Romain Gauthier’s philosophy is infused with his distinctive aesthetic sensibility and unwavering spirit of uncompromising excellence
The second floor is designed as a living room for moments of quiet discovery, harmonizing with the natural warmth of the Vallée de Joux. At its heart is a relief map depicting the Vallée de Joux, his hometown region in Switzerland. Sculpted in three dimensions with micron-level precision, the wall creates a direct connection between Ginza and the mountains of Le Sentier in the Vallée de Joux.
The third floor, composed of a library and carefully curated furnishings, is conceived as a tribute to the pleasures of conversation, the gentle passage of time, and shared passions. At its center stands a large table, creating an intimate setting where guests can gather over a drink and engage in discussions about the art of watchmaking. Surrounded by bookshelves, this floor offers a peaceful retreat—an oasis of calm in the heart of Tokyo.
In this salon, where every detail—from the furniture and objets d’art to the overall atmosphere—reflects Romain’s personal values, visitors can experience the watchmaking philosophy and craftsmanship that embody Romain Gauthier’s vision.
