This model pays homage to the pocket watch, the Universelle, which Audemars Piguet created in the past and which was considered one of the most complicated watches in the world. It is equipped with 40 functions, including 23 complications such as grande sonnerie, super sonnerie, minute repeater, perpetual calendar, split-seconds flyback chronograph, and flying tourbillon. The most notable feature is the size of the movement, which is a compact 34.3 mm in diameter and 9.1 mm thick despite its numerous functions. Pushers and collectors, which are often found in complicated watches, have been reduced to enhance operability. Only the three crowns at 3 o'clock and the push-button at 9 o'clock are used for operation.
