“Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8”
Launched in 1968, Apollo 8 was the first manned lunar orbit in history and returned safely to Earth. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 8 mission, OMEGA launched the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8, which incorporates the "dark side of the moon" into its design, invisible from the Earth. This is an updated version of that concept. The most distinctive feature of the exterior is the use of a hand in the shape of NASA's Saturn V rocket, made of grade 5 titanium, on the small seconds hand at the 9 o'clock position. The new movement is skeletonized, with a black baseplate and bridges decorated with a relief of the moon's surface. The movement is equipped with a Co-Axial escapement and is Master Chronometer certified. It is coordinated with a rubber strap.
