2014 Tobu World Watch Fair

TOBU WORLD WATCH FAIR 2014 starts on August 21st at the 8th floor, Tobu Department Store, Ikebukuro.

On the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Switzerland and Japan, the 2014 Tobu world watch fair is held with the title of “Watch History & Memorial Year”. With reviewing the history of the Swiss watch making, visitors can find out the tradition of watch making fostered for a long time, innovative technology and functions through various events. The latest and fine watches over 43 brands are exhibited at their booths. A special exhibition and events are also held at the same time.

  1. Think Time: a special exhibition by the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH 
    Think Time Special Exhibition is coming to Japan for the first time. This popular exhibition has been held  in many countries  around the world. Featuring a unique, interactive table allowing visitors to build their own watch movement, and audio information panels, this fun exhibition is fascinating introduction to Swiss traditional watch making. All the expertise and skills of watch making are waiting for you.

  2. Various events – everyone from adults to children can enjoy it. 
  • A racing simulator experience
    A Swiss watch brand, Blancpain which this brand owner owns a racing team, holds a trial race with the racing simulator.
    Date & hours: Saturday, August 23rd and Sunday, 24th - for each day, there are two events at 13 o’clock and 16 o’clock, up to six people for each hour
    (After applying in advance, participants decide in the lottery.) 

  • Demonstration for assembling Citizen Campanola watch by the super mister, Etsuko Hashiba
    Date & hours:  Saturday, August 23rd - there are two events at 14 o’clock and 16 o’clock

  • Demonstration for metal engraving by Kiyoshi Terui
    Date & hours: Sunday, August 24th - there are two events at 13 o’clock and 15 o’clock

  • A citizen watch making class for parents and children
    Date & hours: Sunday, August 24th - there are two events at 11 o’clock and 14 o’clock,
    up to 6 pair of 12 people for each time
    (After applying in advance, participants decide in the lottery.)  

  • Talk-show by a watch journalist, Tetsuo Shinoda
    Date & hours:  Saturday, August 23rd - there are two events at 15 o’clock and 17 o’clock
